Cedar Tracing And Testing Gets A Fail

Western Victoria MP Bev McArthur used a constituency question in parliament on Tuesday to ask the Minister for Health about the potential COVID-19 risk posed by livestock carriers who visited Cedar Meats.

Livestock carriers had visited the abattoir that is now linked to over 100 coronavirus cases but were not traced or tested when they returned to rural Victoria.

Mrs McArthur said “This government have proven themselves totally opposed to transparency in every form - they concentrated power in the 'Gang of Eight' crisis cabinet, refused to have a non-government majority run PAEC scrutiny of their pandemic response, made secret deals with Beijing, evaded parliamentary questions on notice and attempted to keep the name of an abattoir secret when it was linked to a large cluster of coronavirus cases.”

“Why [did] the Chief Health Officer did not trace every livestock carrier who visited Cedar Meats to ensure all drivers and their associated farm contacts were tested?” she concluded.
