MCARTHUR INVITES MINISTER MERLINO TO CHILWELL

Member for Western Victoria Region, Bev McArthur has written on the 22nd of March to The Honourable James Merlino MP, Minister for Education, inviting him to a meeting with the School Council of Chilwell Primary School and other local members of parliament. She has requested him to intervene in the ongoing dispute between the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) and the Chilwell Primary School community.

For two years, the School Council has tried to politely persuade the VSBA to allow them to build a new building for the same $2.4m cost as the authority wants to spend on an old, asbestos-ridden, not fit for purpose, out of date building.

Bev McArthur used a constituency question and adjournment debate on the 19th of March to raise the issue on the floor of parliament, and she now hopes that the Minister will respond to her invitation, acting in the interests of the school community and especially the students.
