Government Should Endorse Scholarship Not Leftist Ideology

The Victorian Government has been asked if it backs a current trend in public schools to make its white male students feel like criminals and oppressors.

Member for Western Victoria, Bev McArthur, asked the question in the Parliament this week.

Her question followed a recent disturbing matter at Brauer College in Warrnambool in which all male students were asked to stand up at school assembly and apologise to girls.

“Simply for being male – they were forced to stand and say sorry.

“Innocent boys were disgracefully made to feel like culprits for crimes never committed,” Mrs McArthur said.

She argued that schools should be focussing on the benefits of personal responsibility.

“The political left in this country continues to perpetrate an insidious culture of collective guilt.

“We have seen recently a similar incident at Parkdale Secondary College, where boys who were white and Christian were told they were oppressors.

“Clearly this is becoming common in the Victorian education system under Labor.”

Mrs McArthur has asked the Minister for Education, James Merlino, if the Andrews Government thinks it’s okay to treat innocent young men in this fashion – a position that, by definition - portrays girls as victims.

“Minister, does your government endorse these actions of government schools, including Brauer College?”
