Duck Feather in Government’s Cap

Today the Victorian Government announced that it will increase this year’s duck shooting season bag limit from the initially-decided 2 birds to 5 birds.

Western Victoria MP Bev McArthur welcomed the decision and encouraged the Victoria Government to go further by extending the hunting season.

“Duck hunting is a perfectly legitimate recreational activity that provides a valuable outdoor experience to its participants and economic benefits to rural towns.”

“Duck hunters do commendable conservation work in many wetland areas and ensure numerous water species flourish not just the small percentage that are hunted over a very limited period of time.

“It’s good to see the Victorian Government somewhat coming to their senses by relaxing their heavy-handed approach to duck hunting.”

“This Labor Government is usually beholden to left-wing extremists on the crossbench, the Greens and Animal Justice Party, whose votes they require to pass their controversial and liberty-inhibiting legislation, but this time it seems like some common sense has won out.”

“Not only should bag limits be increased, but the season should be extended, so duck hunters are able to partake in their pastime with less interference from ideologues.”
